Initiation
          Provident fund committees play a crucial role in managing provident fund to protect members' best interest. Thus, understanding and knowledge of provident fund management is essential. The Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) realize that provident fund committee can truly provide members' security in case of membership termination through effective fund management, therefore, "FC Fundamental Course" is initiated.
 

Cooperation
          The SEC has cooperated with three professional organizations – the Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC), the Association of Provident Funds (AOP), and the Thailand Securities Institute (TSI) –  that have common interest in uplifting fund management standard among provident fund committee. Cooperation leads to development of “FC Fundamental Course” aiming to equip and educate provident fund committees on their roles and responsibilities in the provident fund management.
 

Course Outline
          FC Fundamental Course is available in Thai version only and covers six key areas.

          1. Basic knowledge of provident fund
          Contents include importance of retirement saving, provident fund development in Thailand, and structure of provident fund i.e. parties involved and tax incentives.
          2. Laws and regulations
          Contents include roles and responsibilities of provident fund committee under the Provident Fund Act B.E. 2530 and SEC notifications.
          3. Code of best practice
          Contents include fund management under the principle of good governance which consists of duty of loyalty, duty of care and duty to monitor.
          4. Roles and responsibilities of provident fund committee
          Contents include fund management in various perspective i.e. fund administration, investment management, employee's choice, and member relations.
          5. Investment in financial and capital markets
          Contents include scope and structure of financial and stock markets e.g. financial products in the markets, and preliminary knowledge of derivatives. These contents are useful guidance for investment planning of provident fund.
          6. Techniques to analyze financial reports and fund performancet
          Contents include basic accounting principles for provident fund, analysis and evaluation of provident fund performance report. 
 

Joining the Course
